The director of "Cold Mountain," the U.S. Civil War epic starring Jude Law and Nicole Kidman, which opened nationally on Christmas Day, chose the project because it is the story of a journey and based on Homer's "Odyssey," the Greek tale written more than 2,500 years ago. "I find myself in film after film after film being asked about love, and yet that is not something I feel preoccupied with," Minghella, who also wrote the screenplay, said in a recent interview. "I'm not a romantic."

"He's really good at it," says Aghdashloo, who was born and raised in Iran but now lives in Los Angeles. "He's a great actor." Kingsley won an Oscar for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in the 1982 film "Gandhi."

The Miramax film also earned nominations for stars Nicole Kidman and Jude Law in categories for best actress and actor in a dramatic film. Director Anthony Minghella received nominations for best director and best screenplay..."It is about a landscape, historically and geographically, but it is also about people," Minghella said "The movie never loses sight of the fact it's about the relationships."Veteran actor/director Clint Eastwood's mystery "Mystic River" and second-time director Sofia Coppola's comedy of disenchanted Americans in Tokyo, "Lost in Translation" each received five nominations, tying for second place. The Grudge refers to a supernatural curse the stems from someone who died in a fiery rage. The curse is then passed around from victim to victim like a virus causing and endless circle of horror. Raimi and his partner Rob Tapert will produce the project with the original's producer, Taka Ichise. Production is slated to get underway this January in Tokyo. Gellar, repped by ICM, has been seen on the big screen in films such as Cruel Intentions, Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
